  • Project Director, Tenderloin U.  A community-based learning program in San Francisco’s Tenderloin and 6th Street corridor neighborhoods, 1997-Current. 
    • Projects include:
      • Arts Connection.  Presentations by professionals from the various arts to inner city audiences: U Sam Oeur, Cambodian poet, reading from his Crossing Three Wildernesses, to Indochinese Housing Development, March 6, 2006.
      • Certificate Program in Inner City Studies.  A Tenderloin-based series of four courses.  Includes community members as regularly enrolled students, 2003 – current.
      • Sport Clinics, co-sponsored with Bay Area Women’s and Children’s Center, 2002 - Current.
      • Miracle on 6th Street/Miracle on Eddy Street.  Co-sponsored with the Theater Arts Department and S.F. Recreation and Parks Department.  A Christmas celebration, including scenes from “A Christmas Carol,” at the Seneca Hotel, a residence for the formerly homeless, and Boeddeker Park, 2001– Current.
      • Tenderloin Youth College Project.  A community-based workshop and campus visit event for inner city youth, 1999 – Current.
      • Halloween in the Tenderloin. A holiday festival and safe trick or treat event for 400 inner city children.  Facilitated in collaboration with various Tenderloin community agencies, 1998 – Current.
      • Tenderloin Immersion.  A weeklong stay in inner city facilities for faculty, staff, and students doing research and service, 2000 and 2001.
      • Student internships and service at various human service agencies, including Adopt-A-Block, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, Tenderloin Children’s Playground, The Salvation Army, San Francisco Network Ministry, Indochinese Housing Development Corporation, Glide Memorial Church, St. Anthony’s Foundation, and Tenderloin Community School, 1998-Current.
      • Participation in various community street events, such as health and safety fairs.
