Biography
Mr. Poplack teaches art courses and the Gallery Techniques class for the University. Before teaching at Notre Dame he was an Adjunct Professor at Santa Rosa Junior College and the University of California, Santa Cruz where he taught the Outdoor Painter’s Project from 1991-1997. He was a curator for D.U.M.B.O. (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) Arts Center in New York in 2002. Mr. Poplack writes essays for fine arts catalogues and for the Wiegand Gallery’s art publications. He has been a Juror for numerous art invitationals including the Galesburg Civic Art Center in Galesburg IL, the Carmel Arts Festival summer landscape competition and the Smith Gallery at UC Santa Cruz. Robert Poplack is Vice President of the Martin Foundation of San Francisco, a charitable organization giving money to arts organizations and artists in need. He is also a Director of the Peninsula Museum of Art. He is a practicing painter who has had numerous solo shows including at the Contemporary Realist Gallery, San Francisco and the David Klein Gallery, Birmingham, MI, his hometown. Robert Poplack has also been included in many group exhibitions and will be exhibiting his work this summer at Manhattan’s Prince Street Gallery. He was a finalist for the Eduardo Carrillo Award for Painting in 2006.
