"A Strong Vision: Three Decades of Exhibitions"
March 23-April 28
The Wiegand Gallery will be celebrating the curatorial contributions of Charlie Strong, who retired as the gallery’s director in 2005, with an exhibition entitled “ A Strong Vision: Three Decades of Exhibitions.”
In addition to Strong's curatorial contributions, he is an abstract expressionist whose work appears in over 17 museums and galleries around the country.
Through Strong’s efforts the Wiegand Gallery has brought numerous first rate exhibitions to the Gallery. Over sixty artists will be featured in this exhibition; including Nathan Oliveira, Paul Wonner, Michael Kennedy, Elmer Bischoff, Selden Gile, Jack Jefferson, Wayne Thiebaud, John Walker, Patrick Aherne, Kay Metz, Stephanie Sanchez, Arthur Monroe, Don Weygandt, Lisa Esherick, Frank Lobdell, George Lloyd, Joe Slusky, Louis Siegriest, Manuel Neri, Patrick Morrison, Terry St. John, Robert Armstrong, Ronit Arnon and Sam Hernandez, just to mention a few.
The Gallery will be hosting a fundraiser dinner in conjunction with this
exhibition in the beautiful Ralston Mansion Ballroom on the Notre Dame de
Namur University campus. As part of our effort to build an endowment for
Wiegand Gallery, we are asking a select group of artist to donate works for an art auction to be held during the dinner celebration fundraiser.
Known to date, the following artists have graciously contributed: Robert
Armstrong, Ronit Arnon, Donna Cehrs, Terry Hogen, Deborah Kirklin, Joel
Leivick, Arthur Monroe, Kay Metz, Stephanie Sanchez, Don Weygandt, Terry St. John and Paul Harris.
A fundraising dinner and auction will be held Wednesday, March 28 at
5.30 p.m. Viewing of the exhibition at Wiegand Gallery begins at
6.30 p.m. Dinner at Ralston Mansion and Art Auction follows. Tickets cost $150.00 (of which $ 100.00 is a charitable contribution).
