Vice President for Advancement
Hernandez came to NDNU from Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nev., where he was vice president for development. Previously, he served more than 13 years at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich., where he led two successful comprehensive capital campaigns of $46.6M and $100M and successfully managed all aspects of university advancement, including transformational and major gift fundraising, annual giving, parent/alumni relations, corporate and foundation development, grants and sponsored programs, advancement communications.
A frequent presenter to the profession, he has served on the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) International Commission on Philanthropy, and received numerous CASE “Circle of Excellence” Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards and a 2002 AFP/Kintera Outstanding Internet Fundraising Award.
Hernandez holds a BA in History from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., and an Executive Master’s in Leadership (MBA-Leadership) from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
