^ The essay/writing assessment section must be completed for all Composition and Literature CLEP exams (excluding Humanities).  Some essay sections are mandatory while others are optional.  Students should sign up for the optional essay section at the testing site and have the results sent to Notre Dame de Namur University.  If no writing sample is included as part of the exam score, the English Department will proctor its own writing assessment on campus.  No credit will be awarded until a writing sample is collected and scored.

** Students who are awarded World History credit for CLEP Western Civilization History should NOT be placed in one of the following classes to satisfy World History: HST 1000, HST 1010, HST 2000, HST 2010, or HST 2020.**
