What is Search@NDNU?

Search@NDNU is our new one stop shop for searching our library.

Using this new interface, you can search for books, ebooks, articles, DVDs, and reserve items from the collections of the Gellert Library as well as the collections of many other libraries worldwide. While Search@NDNU search results will  include materials owned by other libraries, you always see items from our Library’s collections and links to our Library services first.

How do I find resources using Search@NDNU?

Simply enter your search terms in the search box on the homepage. The search results will include material relevant to your topic in various formats. Using this new interface you can locate library items, directly access electronic resources, and refine your search results by applying filters. For more information please view the following tutorial.

Books: Enter the title, or author’s name or a subject into the search box, then search using the Books tab.  On the search results page, click on Availability to see if the Gellert Library owns the book and if it is available. Write down the call number and item location  and come into the library.

eBooks: Enter the title, or author’s name or a subject into the search box, then search using the eBooks tab. One the search results page, click on View now to access the ebook. You can also browse or search our eBook collection.  

Course Reserves:  To search for course reserves, click on the Course Reserves link right under the search box. Enter your instructor’s name or course name into the box to search for course reserves

Articles, Including Journals, Peer-Reviewed, & Newspapers: Enter one or two key words describing your topic into the search box, then search using the Articles tab. You will see a list of articles. At this point you can refine your search by date, or format, etc. Click on View now to access full-text articles.
Please Note: Search@NDNU does not include all of the electronic resources that you have access to through the Gellert Library. For a full list of our databases, use the link: Databases. 

Advanced Searching: The default search mode presents you with one search box. Click on “Advanced Search” to search on keyword, title, author, subject, or ISBN/ISSN/OCLC Number, as well as to limit results by library, format, publication date, content, audience, or language.
You can also select subject specific databases to enhance your search results. To do this, click on “Advanced search” below the search box. Click on the “Add / Remove databases” button, select any of the databases you want to search, then click the “Save Selections” button at the bottom.

How do I renew items that I have checked out from the library?

In order to renew your checked out library items, you will need to first set up your library account.  To create your Library Account:

Start at the library home page and click on the Go button on the search box

  • Click on My Library Account Sign In in the upper right hand corner of the page
  • Click on Set/reset password to set up for the first time
  • Enter your student ID number in the box
  • A link to set your password will be sent to your email account
  • You must use your student ID number as your user name
