Leadership Academy Scholarship Fall 2008

                                                              

Leadership Academy Scholarship

                                      ($7,000 - $9,000 per year for entering freshmen and transfers)

Application Criteria

To be considered, students must complete their applications no later than February 1st, 2008.  Freshmen should have a minimum earned 3.2 academic grade point average.  Transfers should have earned at least a 3.10 GPA in a minimum of 30 transferable units.

In addition, all candidates must have a record of demonstrated leadership and/or community service. This record should include significant leadership in at least three projects/events and/or a commitment to community service above and beyond hours/activities required for school graduation.

Maintaining the Leadership Academy Scholarship

To renew the scholarships, Leadership Academic Scholars will be required to:

Career Preparation

—Required attendance at 3 educational seminars/workshops per semester.

—Attendance at campus events (5 minimum, per semester).

—Begin Leadership & Public Service Minor coursework

—2.8 minimum GPA

—Active member/leader in a student group, activity, function or position.

—Continue Leadership & Public Service Minor coursework

—2.8 minimum GPA

—Coordinate activities and/or projects associated with a campus-community partnership.

—Active member/leader in a student group, activity, function or position.

—Continue Leadership & Public Service Minor coursework

—2.8 minimum GPA

—Attend 2 post-graduate/career planning seminars.

—Completion of Leadership & Public Service minor requirements

—2.8 minimum GPA

Applying for the Scholarship

  • Please submit a cover letter indicating your interest to be considered for the Leadership Academy Scholarship.
  • Include a leadership resume that includes all involvement in leadership activities and/.or community service.  Indicate the contributions and time commitment you made through those experiences.
  • Scholarship submission deadline is February 1st, 2008.
