Founded in San Jose in 1851, College of Notre Dame was the fifth college chartered by the State of California. The institution moved to the Belmont campus in 1923. The institution was renamed Notre Dame de Namur University in August 2001 in recognition of the breadth and scope of our academic programs. Four schools comprise Notre Dame de Namur University: School of Arts and Humanities, School of Business and Management, School of Education and Leadership and School of Sciences.
Built in 1930, Taube Center is used for special events and conferences by the university and community. It was originally a part of the San Carlos Parish until 1958. From 1958 through 1986, the building housed the College of Notre Dame Art Department. It was renovated in 1995 by a grant from the Taube Family Foundation of Belmont, and the Koret Foundation of San Francisco.
