Lilly GatuneHow did you decide that NDNU was the right place for you?

I had studied in Tennessee before I came to Notre Dame de Namur University. I was hoping to study in California, and when I came to NDNU for a campus tour, I immediately loved the campus and decided it was right for me.

What is your favorite thing about NDNU?

I love the contrast in size compared to the huge undergraduate program I was in prior to coming to NDNU. This is particularly important as a graduate student, and at NDNU, you get to know everyone—your professors, advisors, and your fellow students. Especially in a graduate business program, it’s great to get to know people so closely that might eventually be your colleagues in the working world.

Do you have any other family members from your home country living in the U.S.?

Yes, my brother lives in the U.S. and currently works in the Bay Area. He loves the area, which helped spark my interest in moving here as well.

What are you hoping to do after NDNU?

After NDNU, I’d like to work in the United States for one year, participating in the Optional Practical Training opportunity for International Students. After that, I am hoping to eventually return to Kenya.

What advice would you have for international students coming to NDNU?

The community at NDNU is great, and there’s a good support system with lots of assistance for students. It’s a great option for students looking for a smaller campus.
