Enrollment Manager, Tracy Campus
Cerena Sweetland-Gil has worked in higher education for close to 18 years. She began her career as a research assistant at a nationally recognized nonprofit, the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, looking at the constraints to access of higher education for underserved populations. She went on conduct grant administration and policy research at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, supporting groundbreaking work, funded by the Ford Foundation, in linguistic discrimination. She then took on the administration, enrollment, faculty and logistical support of the Corporate Training division at UC Santa Cruz Extension. These experiences lead to her the position of director of graduate studies at the University of the Pacific, conducting recruitment, marketing, and operations of admissions and enrollment management. Cerena has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of San Francisco in economics and political science, and a master’s in international policies studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She is fluent in French and worked as an intern at the Organization for Economic Development and Communication in Paris, where she lived for five years. She is an avid runner and cyclist and loves to travel. Cerena is also currently working on her doctorate in educational administration and leadership at the University of the Pacific. Her personal philosophy is that life must be lived to the fullest and that starts with a great education, and an insistence on setting high expectations for what life can offer!
