Quach Named Second Team All-PacWest
December 5 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team wrapped up their 2007 season with sophomore libero Lauren Quach receiving All-Conference honors.
Quach (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatius Prep) was named Second Team All-PacWest after finishing second in the conference with 512 digs. She ranked third in the league with 4.41 digs per game, while appearing in all 116 games. Quach reached double figures in digs 23 times and recorded at least 20 digs eight times. She also topped the 30 dig mark three times, including a career high 40 against Cal State East Bay on September 28th.
The Argos concluded the season with an 11-19 overall record, but finished fourth in the conference with a record of 7-7. All-PacWest Team
Argos Fall at Dixie State in Four
November 9 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team closed out their 2007 Pacific West Conference schedule with a tough loss at Dixie State. The Argos moved to 7-7 in conference play and finished the year in fourth place. NDNU registered a season high 71 kills as a team but were defeated, 24-30, 30-21, 27-30 and 31-33.
Marissa Miller matched her career high with 24 kills and added 18 digs and three aces. Emily Evans tacked on 21 kills and three blocks. Caitlin Torres had nine kills and zero errors while Pamela Alano and Shasta Millhollin combined for 58 assists. Lauren Quach chipped in 39 digs. Cami Johnson led four Dixie players in double figures with 21 kills while Tanya Langston added 17. Anna Bullard recorded 53 assists and Amanda Goodell and Mariesa Nielson racked on 11 and 10 kills respectively.
The Argos and Rebels close out the season with a non-conference match on Saturday. BOX SCORE
Seniors Lead NDNU Past Grand Canyon
November 3 – The four Notre Dame de Namur seniors celebrating Senior Day came up big in the Argos 3-1 victory over PacWest rival Grand Canyon. Emily Evans, Marissa Miller, Sarah Perry and Shasta Millhollin, all playing in their final home game combined for 41 of NDNU’s 67 kills. The Argos improved to 7-6 in conference play with one match remaining.
The Argos came out strong, taking the first game 30-19 before the Antelopes scored the final four points to win the second game 31-29. In the third, NDNU rattled off 11 straight points and handled GCU 30-14. The fourth game was close throughout, but with the score tied at 28-28 NDNU won the final two points.
Marissa Miller led five players in double digits with 15 kills and added 20 digs. Sarah Perry, Kirby Haynes and Caitlin Torres each tacked on 11 kills with Emily Evans registering 10. Shasta Millhollin finished with five kills and 18 assists, while Pamela Alano recorded eight of the Argos 18 aces on the night. Ashley Bright and Shauna Nieman each tallied 12 kills for Grand Canyon and Shea Robinson chipped in 10 blocks.

Argos Sweep Grand Canyon
November 2 – Five different Argonauts recorded at least five kills as the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team pulled to 6-6 in the PacWest with a three game sweep of Grand Canyon. The Argos used 11 aces and 10 team blocks to overcome the Antelopes 39-36 kill advantage.
GCU led late into the first game, taking a 25-19 lead at one point. However, NDNU fought back and overtook the ‘Lopes to pull out the win 30-28. The Argos controlled the second game, winning 30-21 before closing out the match with a 30-26 win in a back and forth third game.
Caitlin Torres and Marissa Miller each recorded eight kills to lead the NDNU attack. Torres added six blocks and Miller tacked on three aces and 11 digs. Sarah Perry registered six kills, six aces and three blocks while Pamela Alano and Shasta Millhollin combined for 29 assists. Megan Toth was the only player to reach double digits in the match, tallying 12 with Shea Robinson adding nine of her own.
These two teams square off again tomorrow night for NDNU's final home game of the season. The Argos will be honoring their four seniors; Marissa Miller, Emily Evans, Sarah Perry and Shasta Millhollin before the game. BOX SCORE
CSU Monterey Bay Sweeps NDNU
October 30 – After a pair of hard fought games, the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team was swept in a non-conference match with CSU Monterey Bay. The Argos stayed close in the first two games, falling 31-29 and 30-28. The third game was all CSUMB as the Otters won 30-22.
Marissa Miller turned in a great performance for the Argos, registering 14 kills and committing just one error. She also tacked on 13 digs and four blocks. Sarah Perry added eight kills while Shauna Folan recorded a game high 17 digs. The Otters had two players in double figures led by Brittany Etchings’s 14 kills. Courtney Taubert added 10 kills and Kendra Miller tacked on six kills and three solo blocks.
The Argos return home for a pair of Pacific West Conference matches with Grand Canyon on Friday and Saturday. BOX SCORE
Argos Stay on Road, Down CSU Stanislaus in Four Games
October 24 – Playing in their fifth straight road game, the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team defeated CSU Stanislaus in four games. The Argos got off to a fast start, taking the first two games 30-22 and 30-26. The Warriors battled back to win the third 30-27 before the Argos ran away with the fourth game 30-13. In the fourth, NDNU won 12 of the first 13 points to put the game out of reach.
NDNU held a 50-43 kill advantage for the match and also recorded 12 aces and 10 blocks. Emily Evans led the Argos with 14 kills and six blocks with six of her kills coming in the final game. Marissa Miller reached double figures with 12 kills and tacked on 14 digs and four aces. Caitlin Torres hit .600 for the match, registering nine kills and zero errors while adding six blocks.
The Argos improved to 9-16 on the season and will stay on the road for the sixth straight game with a match against CSU Monterey Bay on Tuesday. BOX SCORE
Argos Drop to BYU Hawaii in Three Games
October 20 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball wrapped up their four game Hawaii road trip with a loss to BYU Hawaii in three games. The Argos fell 30-22 in all three games and managed just 29 total kills. The Seasiders tallied 50 kills, including 19 in game one and 18 in game two.
Sarah Perry led the Argos with nine kills while Caitlin Torres added five kills and five blocks. Lauren Quach recorded 19 digs with Marrisa Miller tacking on 13. Noelle Filimoeatu and Agnes Tuilevuka each registered a game high 14 kills for BYU Hawaii while LeeAnn Mapu dished out 41 assists.
NDNU moved to 5-6 in the Pacific West with three more conference matches left to play. The Argos stay on the road this week for a pair of games against CSU Stanislaus and CSU Monterey Bay. BOX SCORE
Argos Fall in Four to HPU
October 19 – With the Argos looking to pull off a season sweep of Hawaii Pacific, the Sea Warriors got off to a hot start and won in four games. The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team handled Hawaii Pacific two days earlier, winning in four games. However, the Sea Warriors came out and took the first two games 30-28 and 30-16 to put the Argos in a big hole. NDNU rebounded with a 30-23 victory in the third, but HPU put the match away for good with a 30-21 win in the fourth game.
The Argos held a 53-49 kill advantage for the match but committed 29 attack errors and 19 service errors. Marissa Miller led NDNU with 14 kills and 18 digs while Emily Evans was the other Argonaut in double figures with 10. Pamela Alano finished with 26 assists and Sarah Perry added five blocks. Leslie Schipper racked up a game high 18 kills for HPU while Kelly Balany assisted on seven of the teams 15 total blocks.
NDNU moved to 5-5 in the Pacific West, but remain in third place with a rematch against second place BYU Hawaii scheduled for Saturday. BOX SCORE
BYU Hawaii Sweeps Past NDNU
October 17 - The Notre Dame de Namur women's volleyball team could not make it two wins in a row to open their Hawaii trip, falling to BYU Hawaii 3-0. The Argos struggled from the start, managing just 10 kills and committing 10 errors in a 30-14 loss in game one. The Seasiders kept up their pace in the second and third game, combining for 38 kills in two 30-22 wins.
BYU Hawaii held a 52-34 kill advantage for the game while the Argos also committed 25 attack errors. Emily Evans was the only Argonaut in double figures with 12 kills. Noelle Filimoeatu led the Seasiders with a game high 14 kills while Faylynn Merrick and Tanza Buroker added 12 and 10 respectively.
NDNU moved to 5-4 in the PacWest, a half a game behind the Seasiders for second place. The Argos travel back to Hawaii Pacific on Friday before finishing up their trip at BYU Hawaii on Saturday. BOX SCORE
NDNU Topples Hawaii Pacific, Moves into Second Place
October 16 – The Argos four match road trip to Hawaii started off in impressive fashion as NDNU downed Hawaii Pacific in four games. The first two games were easily handled by the Argos, 30-22 and 30-18 before HPU rebounded with a 32-30 win in the third. However, NDNU put the match away with a 30-20 victory in the fourth game.
NDNU held just a 64-61 kill advantage for the game, but used 17 service aces and eight blocks to pull away. The Argonauts also hit at least .200 and registered 14 or more kills in each game.
Marissa Miller led three Argos in double figures with 15 kills while Emily Evans and Caitlin Torres finished just behind her with 14 and 13 kills respectively. Sarah Perrey added nine kills and five aces. Setters Shasta Millhollin and Pamela Alano each recorded 26 assists and three aces. The Sea Warriors were paced by Leslie Schipper’s game high 18 kills while three other hitters reached double figures also.
The Argos improved to 5-3 in conference play, moving them into sole possession of second place. These two teams will meet again Wednesday night for their final meeting of the season. BOX SCORE
Argos Sweep Chaminade
October 13 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team was clicking on all cylinders as they stormed past Chaminade in a three game sweep. The Argos held a 53-38 kill advantage and committed a season low seven attack errors in route to a 30-18, 30-24, 30-27 victory. NDNU recorded 18, 21 and 14 kills in the three games and hit .377 for the match.
Emily Evans once again led the Argonaut attack, tallying 12 kills and hitting .478. Caitlin Torres tacked on 10 kills while Marissa Miller added nine. Sarah Perry hit .500 for the match with eight kills and three blocks. Pamela Alano dished out a game high 30 assists. Trina Kauliakomoa registered 12 kills for the Silver Swords with Samantha Miller adding nine.
NDNU improved to 4-3 in conference play and moved to 7-13 overall while Chaminade moved to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in the Pac West. The Argos are off to Hawaii for a four game trip that will feature a pair of games against BYU Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific. BOX SCORE
Chaminade Takes Down Argos 3-1
October 12 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team dropped their third straight conference match, falling to Chaminade 3-1. The Argos came out on fire, using 23 kills in the first game to down the Swords 30-27. In the second game, NDNU took an early lead before Chaminade rattled off 13 straight points to push ahead and win 30-14. The Swords then took the final two games 30-23 and 30-28.
The Argos recorded a season high 14 blocks while also racking up 57 kills. However, Chaminade was one better with 58 kills and tacked on 14 aces. Emily Evans and Sarah Perry led four Argos in double figures with 12 kills each. Marissa Miller added 11 kills and six aces while Ashley Fox tacked on 10 kills and hit .529 for the match. Caitlin Torres picked up eight kills and seven blocks.
Chaminade was led by Trina Kauloakamoa’s 19 kills, 15 of which came in the first two games. Evelyn Bluthenthal added 15 kills and Samantha Miller tallied 13. Setter Tanya Alvino finished with a game high 51 assists while Lila Sapulo recorded eight aces.
The Argos dropped to 3-3 in Pacific West play but will have a chance to rebound tomorrow with a rematch against Chaminade scheduled at 7:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Vulcans Outlast Argos in Five
October 6 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team dropped a five game heartbreaker to first place Hawaii Hilo 3-2. The Argos came out on fire, taking the first two games, 30-26 and 31-29 while racking up 28 kills in the process. However, UHH rallied after falling behind 2-0 to win the final three games, 30-17, 30-28 and 15-13, and take the match. The Vulcans out killed the Argos 71-65 and also added 17 total blocks.
With the match tied at 2-2, Hawaii Hilo came out fast in the final game and took a 11-7 lead. The Argos then mounted a rally of their own and tied the score at 13 before the Vulcans won the final two points.
Emily Evans recorded a NDNU season high and a career high 23 kills while hitting .436 for the match. Marissa Miller followed up her own 20 kill performance with 14 kills of her own. Setter Shasta Millhollin finished with 21 assists and five kills while Sarah Perry added four aces and three blocks. Hillary Hurley once again led the Vulcans, finishing with 19 kills. Fabiane Seben tacked on 12 kills and nine blocks while KaUwila Lavea and Mary Claire Bolo added 12 and 11 kills respectively. Desiree Agader topped 60 assists for the second straight game, tallying 62 and adding 12 digs.
The Argos dropped to 6-12 on the year, but remain over .500 on conference play at 3-2. Hawaii Hilo moved to 13-5 and are still perfect in the PacWest with a 5-0 record. NDNU is back in action next weekend for a pair of conference matches with Chaminade. BOX SCORE
Argos Fall in Four to Hawaii Hilo
October 5 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team saw its six game conference winning streak end with a 3-1 loss to Hawaii Hilo. The Argos started this season off 3-0 in Pacific West play after winning their final three conference matches last year. However, the Vulcans put an end to the streak and took over sole possession of first place in the PacWest with a 4-0 record.
Hilo came out fast, recording 18 kills in each of the first two games and winning 30-25 and 30-23. The Argos battled back in the third, hitting .395 for the game and using 19 kills to down the Vulcans 30-28. The fourth game was all Hawaii Hilo as the Vulcans put the match away with a 30-19 victory.
Marissa Miller racked up a season high 20 kills and hit .485 for match while Emily Evans added 10 kills. Pamela Alano and Shasta Millhollin combined for 42 assists with Caitlin Torres and Sarah Perry each tallying four blocks. Hillary Hurley led the Vulcans to a 73-56 kill advantage by recorded 24 kills and only committing five errors. Fabiane Seben tacked on 17 kills while Josimara Pinhiero and KaUwila Lavea each reached double figures. Setter Desiree Agader dished out 67 assists and Lauren Bayer added nine blocks.
The Argos will look to regain first place tomorrow as they take on the Vulcans at 7:00 pm at Walter Gleason Gym. BOX SCORE
CSU East Bay Downs Argos in Four
September 28 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team could not hold off CSU East Bay, dropping a non-conference match 3-1. The Pioneers came out strong, taking the first two games 30-24 and 30-21. In the third game, the Argos led throughout and won 30-24. CSUEB rebounded in the fourth and final game, winning the sea-saw battle 30-27.
The Argos out hit the Pioneers 53-50, but committed 16 more attack errors (39-23). CSU East Bay also added nine aces and ten team blocks. Marissa Miller led the Argos with 12 kills while Emily Evans and Caitlin Torres added 10 apiece. Lauren Quach recorded a game high 40 digs, including 16 in the fourth game. Jackie Randolph had a game high 14 kills for the Pioneers and added three aces. Beverly Hazell tacked on 10 kills and libero Lauren Massa added 28 digs.
The Argos dropped to 6-10 on the season and resume conference play next Friday when they host Hawaii Hilo. The game will start at 7:00 pm at Walter Gleason Gym. BOX SCORE
Argos Fall in Four to ‘Lopes
September 26 – A day after improving to 3-0 in the Pacific West conference, the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team dropped a tough non-conference battle against Grand Canyon. The Argos started off strong, taking the first game 30-25, but lost the final three games 30-17, 30-21 and 30-27. Grand Canyon held a 55-47 kill advantage for the match and only committed 20 attack errors while the Argos had 30.
Caitlin Torres was the only Argonaut with double digit kills, finishing with 10 and four blocks. Sarah Perry added nine kills and five blocks while Lauren Quach added 17 digs. Dana Edington led four Antelopes in double figures with 16 kills and 18 digs. Whitney Estes tacked on 14 kills while Megan Toth and Shea Robinson added 11 and 10 respectively. Audra Slemmer recorded a game high 41 assists and Ashley Bright added eight blocks.
The Argos return home Friday night for a non-conference clash with CSU East Bay at 7:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Argos Sweep Grand Canyon
September 25 – Four different Argonauts reached double figures in kills as the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team improved to 2-0 in Pacific West play with a sweep over Grand Canyon. The Argos held a 55-45 kill advantage and hit .336 as a team to win the match 30-24, 30-24 and 30-28. NDNU recorded 18 kills in each of the first two games before tallying 19 in the third and final game.
Caitlin Torres and Sarah Perry led the Argonaut attack, racking up 11 kills apiece while Marissa Miller and Emily Evans added 10 each. Torres did not commit an error and hit a NDNU season high .688. Ashley Fox tacked on nine kills and three blocks while hitting .467 for the match. Lauren Quach had a game high 25 digs with Miller adding 19 digs and two aces. Shea Robinson and Dana Edington each recorded 11 kills for the Antelopes in defeat.

NDNU Completes Home Sweep of Dixie State
September 22 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Pacific West after finishing off Dixie State 3-1 for the second night in a row. The Argos held a 54-39 kill advantage for the match and racked up 13 service aces on their way to downing the Rebels 30-27, 30-21, 28-30 and 30-21.
For the second night in a row the Argos jumped out to a two game lead before Dixie answered back in the third game. However, once again NDNU rallied in the fourth to put the game away and seal the victory. The win moves the Argos to 5-8 on the season with Dixie falling to 2-13.
Emily Evans once again led the Argos in kills with 16 while Caitlin Torres tacked on 13 kills and six blocks. Marissa Miller finished with seven kills, five aces and 15 digs and Lauren Quach added a game high 27 digs. Cami Johnson tallied a game high 17 kills for the Rebels and was one of four players to reach double digits in digs. The Argos continue Pacific West play on Tuesday when they travel to Phoenix to face Grand Canyon. BOX SCORE
Argos Open PacWest Play with Win
September 21 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team opened their 2007 conference schedule with a victory over Dixie State 3-1. The Argos, who finished last season 3-12 in the PacWest, jumped on the Rebels early to prevail 30-20, 30-28, 25-30 and 30-19.
NDNU took the first game after pulling ahead halfway through the game. With the score tied at 12-12, the Argos went on a run and downed the Rebels 30-20. The second game remained close throughout, with Dixie leading at 26-24. However, the Argos rattled off three kills and took the game 30-28. The third game belong to the Rebels who took an 11-10 lead early and never trailed again. In the fourth game, the Argos led the entire way to put the match away.
Three Argos reached double digit kills as NDNU held a 60-36 kill advantage. Emily Evans finished with a game high 15 while Marissa Miller and Caitlin Torres tacked on 14 and 12 respectively. Lauren Quach led all players with 27 digs with Miller adding 19. Cami Johnson led the way for Dixie with 11 kills while four Rebels recorded at least 10 digs. These two teams meet again tomorrow night at 7:00 pm at Walter Gleason Gym for their second of four meetings this season. BOX SCORE
NDNU Falls in Three to Sonoma State
September 16 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team could not make it two wins in a row, falling to Sonoma State in three games. The Argos kept the first game close before the Seawolves pulled away and won 30-27. In the second and third games, Sonoma State found their groove, winning 30-20 and 30-15. For the match, the Seawolves enjoyed a 47-37 kill advantage and 11-5 lead in service aces.
Freshman Ashley Fox and senior Emily Evans led the Argos with nine kills apiece while Lauren Quach recorded 21 digs. Sonoma State had two players with double digit kills, led Kristy Sather’s match high 12 kills. Sarah Illingworth added 10 kills and hit .562 for the match. The Argos open up Pacific West play on Friday when they host Dixie State at 7:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Argos Sweep Monterey Bay
September 14 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team enjoyed a 45-27 kill advantage on their way to a three game sweep of CSU Monterey Bay. The Argos downed the Otters for the second time this season after winning in Monterey in August.
NDNU started off slow in the first, trailing late in the game before pulling ahead to win 30-27. In the second, with the score 16-14, the Argos broke the game open by taking 12 of the next 13 points and winning 30-19. With the score tied at 13-13 in the third game, NDNU won 17 of the final 24 points to close out the match.
Marissa Miller led all players with 16 kills on the night, including 10 in the second game. She hit .429 for the match and added four aces and 10 digs. Lauren Quach finished with 18 digs while Shasta Millhollin and Pamela Alano combined for 33 assists. The Argos held to the Otters to a -.009 attack percentage, forcing CSUMB into 28 errors.
NDNU is back in action tomorrow when they travel to Sonoma State to take on the Seawolves at 7:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Argos Fall in Five Games to Stanislaus
September 11 – Despite having five players with double digit kills, the Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team could not hold off CSU Stanislaus. The Argos struggled in the first game of their home opener, losing 30-25 before rebounding to take the next two 30-28 and 30-22. The Warriors battled from behind in the fourth game to force a fifth and deciding game. In the fifth game, Stanislaus led throughout before winning 15-11 and spoiling the NDNU home opener.
The Argos out killed the Warriors in every game and had a 69-45 advantage overall. However, the difference proved to be the 40 attack errors committed by NDNU. Five Argo players reached double figures for the match with Emily Evans leading the way with 17. Marissa Miller and Caitlin Torres finished with 14 and 13 kills respectively while Sarah Perry recorded 12 and Kirby Haynes tacked on 10. Pamela Alano and Shasta Millhollin combined for 56 assists, with Alano leading the way with 31. Lauren Quach recorded 28 digs and freshman Sarah Bagaman finished with six aces for the Argos. Stanislaus was led by Debbi Vander Schaff who finished with 11 kills and Colleen Sullivan who dished out a game high 43 assists.
The Argos move to 2-7 on the season while the Warriors improved to 3-8. NDNU is back at home Friday night for a match with CSU Monterey Bay for the second time this season. The Argos defeated the Otters in four games two weeks ago at the Monterey Bay Tournament. BOX SCORE
Argos Finish 1-3 at Otter Invitational
September 2 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team fought to a 1-3 record at the CSU Monterey Bay Otter Invitational over the weekend. The Argos battled all weekend and faced two ranked teams, including #2 University of Tampa.
In the opening match of the tourney, the Argos downed the host CSU Monterey Bay 3-1. The Otter’s took the first game 30-26 before NDNU stormed back to win the final three games 30-27, 30-27 and 30-28.
The second match on Friday pitted the Argos against #2 ranked University of Tampa. Tampa went ahead early winning the first game 30- 23 before the Argos evened it up with a 30-25 win in game two. However, Tampa responded by taking the final two game 30-17 and 30-17. Marissa Miller led the Argos with 14 kills while Lauren Quach added 19 digs. Alisha Green led four Tampa players in double figures with 21 kills and Gabriela Saade finished with 63 assists. BOX SCORE
On Saturday, the Argos fell to Saginaw Valley State in four games despite an early lead. NDNU jumped out to a 1-0 lead before SVS took the final three games to earn the victory. Emily Evans finished with 11 kills while Marissa Miller added 10 to lead the Argos. Saginaw had four players reach double figures in kills with Allison Schlinkert leading the way with 17. BOX SCORE
In the final match of the tournament the Argos dropped tough one to #20 Seattle Pacific in five games. NDNU took the opening game 30-28 before SPU won the next two 30-24 and 30-19. The Argos pulled out a 30-28 win in a must win fourth game, but dropped the deciding fifth game 15-9. Emily Evans and Marrisa Miller once again led the Argos with 13 and 10 kills respectively. Seattle Pacific finished the match with a 74-45 kill advantage, and had two players with over 20 kills. BOX SCORE

Argos Drop Final Two at Sonoma Tournament
August 26 – The Notre Dame de Namur volleyball team lost a pair of matches to close out the Seawolves Spike Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. The Argos suffered the first set back against Chico State in a five game battle that ended with the Wildcats winning the final two games. In the final match, NDNU fell to tourney host Sonoma State 3-0.
The Argos started slow against Chico, dropping the first game before responding to take the next two. However, the Wildcats bounced back in the fourth to even up the match and won the fifth game 15-11 to earn the victory. Sarah Perry finished with a game high 16 kills while Emily Evans added 10. Sonoma took control of Sunday’s game from the beginning, winning in three games. Marissa Miller was the only Argo in double digits with 10 kills and also added 18 digs. The Seawolves held a 52-32 kill advantage with three players finishing with at least 10. The Argos are back in action this weekend when they travel to play in the CSU Monterey Bay Tournament. Argos Split on Day 1 of Seawolf Spike Volleyball Tournament
August 24 - Despite dropping the first match of the 2007 season, the Notre Dame de Namur women’s volleyball team earned a split on the first day of the Seawolf Spike Tournament. The Argos dropped the first match to CSU Stanislaus 3-1, before responding with a 3-1 victory over Humboldt State.
The Argos won the first game of the Stanislaus match 30-26 before the Warriors stormed back to take the next three games by scores of 30-22, 30-24, and 30-23. Emily Evans was the Argos leading attacker, spiking home a game-high 15 kills. Lauren Quach had 12 digs and Caitlin Torres was the team leader with five blocks. Debbi Vander Schaaf led the Warriors with 13 kills while Colleen Sullivan finished with a game-high 43 assists. BOX SCORE
In the second match, the Argos once again jumped out early, taking the first game 30-19. The Jacks won the second game 30-27 before the Argos put it away by taking the next two 30-26 and 30-27. Kirby Haynes led four Argos with double digit kills, finishing with a career high 13. Emily Evans added 12 while Sarah Perry and Caitlin Torres each recorded 11. Setter Shasta Millhollin picked up 42 assists and Marissa Miller added 19 digs and nine kills. Lynsey Adams led Humboldt with 13 kills while Liz Shannon dished out 47 assists. BOX SCORE
Three Argos Receive Conference Honors
March 5 – Marissa Miller, Emily Evans and Shauna Folan were named All-PAC West Honorable Mention for their outstanding efforts during the 2006 season.
Miller, a junior outside hitter, led the Pac West in aces (75), total kills (472) and points (571). She also finished with a team high 3.72 kills per game, ranking her seventh in the conference.
Evans, a junior, finished fifth in the conference in total kills (378) and blocks (65) and 11th in kills per game with 2.98.
Folan, a sophomore played primarily at libero and led the conference in digs with 600 and digs per game with 4.84.
The Argos finished 13-24 on the season and took home fifth place in the Pac West.
Argos Fall to Lopes 3-1
November 4 – The Notre Dame de Namur women’s volleyball team could not hold off the Grand Canyon Antelopes, dropping their last game of the season 3-1 (28-30, 26-30, 36-34, 22-30) The ‘Lopes used 59 kills, eight aces and 23 blocks to improve their record to 17-14 on the season. NDNU racked up 67 kills, 26 of which came in the thrilling third game.
Marissa Miller led four Argos who reached double digit kills, connecting on a career high 24 kills and adding 21 digs. Caitlin Torres tallied 16 kills while Sarah Perry and Emily Evans had 12 and 11 respectively. Senior Jennifer McMurtry closed out her career at NDNU with 55 assists and two aces. GCU was led by Dana Edington’s 21 kills and Ashley Bright’s 12 blocks. Tonya Rooth added 11 kills while Bright and Stephanie Yingling tacked on nine apiece. The Argos concluded the season with a 14-23 overall record and were 3-12 in Pac West play. BOX SCORE
Argos Outlast ‘Lopes in Five Games
November 3 – The NDNU women’s volleyball captured their third straight Pac West victory, downing Grand Canyon in five games (27-30, 30-17, 30-23, 22-30, 15-5). The Argos found themselves down a game early, but bounced back with two straight wins. In the second game, with the score tied at 17, NDNU rallied off 13 straight points to tie the match at one game apiece. After the Argos won game three to take a 2-1 lead, the ‘Lopes won game four, sending the match into a fifth game. Jennifer McMurtry started off the fifth game with two straight aces as NDNU jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 15-5 victory. The Argos racked up 68 kills and 14 aces for the match while Grand Canyon collected 47 kills and 15 blocks.
Emily Evans led the Argos attack, recording a career high 20 kills and hit .317 on the night. Marrisa Miller added 18 kills, seven aces and a game high 21 digs while Sarah Perry tacked 11 kills of her own. Jennifer McMurtry tallied 56 assists and Shauna Folan picked up 19 digs for NDNU on the night. Grand Canyon got 13 kills apiece from Stephanie Yingling and Dana Edington as well as nine blocks from Ashley Bright. These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at Walter Gleason Gym for the final game of the season at 7:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Argos Fall to CSU East Bay
October 31 – The NDNU women’s volleyball team could not make it four wins in a row, dropping a non-conference match with CSU East Bay. The Pioneers swept the match in three games (30-32, 24-30, 25-30) giving them a 2-1 season record against the Argos. NDNU fell to 13-22 on the season despite racking up more kills than CSUEB and making fewer errors. The Argos tallied 44 kills including 18 in the first game while East Bay finished with 40. The Pioneers got a big boost from their serving game, recording 13 aces, including eight from Alyssa Chang.
Marissa Miller once again led the Argos attack, connecting on 16 kills while Emily Evans added 12. Shauna Folan had a game high 26 digs and Jennifer McMurtry recorded 29 assists. CSU East Bay was led by Kristen Cameron's 11 kills and 17 digs. NDNU concluded their season with a pair of matches this weekend against Grand Canyon University. BOX SCORE
