The Bohemian Submission Guidelines:

Literary and Art Submission Deadline: midnight January 22, 2013

Open to all members of the NDNU community, which includes students, alumni, and faculty

Submitting Your Work:

All submissions should be sent to: bohemian@ndnu.edu. Please also turn in a short (1 to 2 line) student bio with each piece.

The Bohemian is an award-winning art and literature journal that showcases the talents of the students of Notre Dame de Namur University. We are interest in the best, original works of new and previously-published writers and artists. We are committed to reflecting the full range of talent in our NDNU community, including poetry, and fine art from a multitude of genres and mediums. Writing and art with different and new genres are always welcome.

Literature Submissions:

We are interested in well-written pieces on personal, political, cultural, and philosophical themes. However, we do not accept journalistic features, academic works, or opinion pieces. Submitters are limited to five (5) literary submissions per publication. Look at past issues of the Bohemian for examples. Work will not be returned.

Literary submissions should be typed, double-spaced, and accompanied by your complete contact information. We will consider long pieces; however, if you wish the entire piece to be printed, it must not exceed 4,500 words. There is no minimum length. We recommend and greatly appreciate email submissions. If you are planning on personally submitting a piece, please make sure that it is not your only copy of the work and that it is legible.

In an effort to accomplish a publication that exemplifies NDNU's immense diversity, we accept submissions in foreign languages.

Art Submissions:

Art submissions should be original and creative. Nudity is acceptable as long as it is presented in a tasteful manner. Submitted pieces should be in black and white and be no smaller than 8.5 x 11 inches in diameter. Electronically submitted work should be JPEG format and no smaller than 1.0 megabyte in size. Anything smaller than 1.0 megabyte cannot be printed adequately. Submitters are limited are limited to five (5) art submissions per publication.
