HOUSING INFORMATION FOR NEW STUDENTS

Welcome to the NDNU Family! Included in this section are links for all of the forms and information you will need as you prepare to move to your new home at Notre Dame de Namur University.  This includes your Housing Application and Health Insurance Form, which you should complete and send back to the Admissions Office with your $400 deposit between May 1 and June 15.  Please be thorough on your application, as we use the information you provide on the back of the form to match roommates and place you close to a group of students who share some similar interests.

You will receive a letter via the mail in July that includes information regarding your housing assignment, your roommate and her or his contact information, as well as details regarding your arrival in August. You will also receive information in this letter regarding what to bring, and what not to bring when you check-in. This list is also available here if you would like to start your planning and packing early!

FAQ's - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do I need to fill out any forms before I come to housing selection?

A: YES!! You must fill out a Returning Student Housing Application  and a 2008-2009 Health Insurance form (available online and in the Housing Office) prior to arriving to housing selection.

Q: If I’m applying for a room based on my medical needs, can I also have a roommate?

A: Yes. Students applying for Medical Needs assignments may choose roommates. Those roommates must submit a Returning Student application by March 18.

Q: What if I work/have class during the time I’m supposed to go through the selection process?

A: Don’t miss class! Students may use a proxy (you must use the back of the Housing Application) to go through Housing Selection if they cannot be present during open hours.

Q: What if I show up late to the selection process?

A: Assignments will be given on a first come-first serve basis according to the designated population for the day.

Q: What if a current senior comes to selection on the day for juniors?

A: If a student misses the designated day (ex. a senior student comes to the selection day for juniors), he or she will be able to select housing along with all of the other students but will not receive priority for selection.

Q: Can anybody live in the apartments if they request to?

A: No. Any student wishing to live in the apartments must be in good judicial standing AND have at least 45 credits as of December 31, 2007.

Q: Can I sign up for an apartment by myself or with one other friend?

A: No. All three students must be accounted for (present or have proxy) when signing up for an apartment.

Q: If I sign up for a New Hall room, can I request that the other rooms remain open for my friends?

A: No. If your friends are not accounted for at Housing Selection (either present or have a proxy), you cannot hold a space for them. Coming together and standing in line together is the only way to select a space together.

Q: What other forms do I have to fill out in order to live on campus?

A: All students must fill out and turn in a Housing Application and a 2008-2009 Health Insurance form prior to housing selection.
