Personal Support Services
NDNU offers students personal support services to enhance the emotional well-being and personal growth process of each individual person.
The following is a list of offices that are personal support services:
- Counseling Services provide an opportunity to discuss with a trained professional a problem, crisis, or decisions a student is facing, to learn to manage stress, to explore problems in relationships, with sexual identity, depression, anger, loss or grief, or to discover emotionally healthy ways to live. Sessions are free and confidential.(Contact: Dr. Dennis Dow, x3578 or Dr. Edna Esnil x3714 in the Oaks.)
- Campus Ministry provides spiritual counseling or direction for individuals desiring assistance. Also, prayer/support groups, retreats and liturgical services are offered throughout the year. (Contact: Campus Ministry, x3761 in JB110.)
- Health & Wellness Services offers free, confidential services and/or referrals for any health related matters, including diet and personal wellness issues, HIV testing referrals, sexual health issues, stress, injuries, and other health care matters. Also, health insurance and health education materials are available. (Contact: MaryAnn Burman, x3756 in the Campus Life Office.)
- EMPOWER (Embrace Mentoring, Provide Opportunity for Wellness and Educational Resources) offers peer support and peer advising for undergraduate students. (Contact: empower@ndnu.edu, or MaryAnn Burman, advisor, x 3756).
