Natashia López-Gomez, M.Ed. has been published in several journals and anthologies including In Other Words; Literature by Latinas of the United States (1994), Broad Topics (1991) and CHISPAS,(1990). Her poem, All Body and No Soul won the Emily Chamberlain Cook prize for poetry in 1992.  On an international level, her works have traveled as far as Germany to be placed in the Chicano Archive at the University of Bamberg. Natashia was born in Portland, Oregon. The daughter of a single-parent, López-Gomez was raised in a household where the income fell below the poverty line. At the age of 38, López-Gomez has an extensive community service background extending back to her teens. At the age of 17, Natashia was an actress with Teens & Company, an educational theater company that performed across the state of Oregon. The show was eventually made into a television production and won an Iris Award. In 1988, she left Oregon to study at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her B.A. in Chicano Studies. She completed her graduate work at Harvard University in 1994, earning an M.Ed. in Risk and Prevention Education. Since that time, López-Gomez has continued her work, not only as a writer, but also as a social worker, community health advocate, and university instructor. She has provided direct services to domestic violence victims, sex-workers, the dually diagnosed, recovery programs, youth programs, and has worked inside the county jail systems. She currently resides in Northern California with her husband and two children.
