The Marie Batton Society

Marie Batton is a trustee emerita and has been one of NDNU’s major benefactors. Marie Lo Buono Batton began her affiliation with NDNU in 1923 as a first grade student when the Sisters of Notre Dame moved the campus to Belmont from San Jose. Through the years, Marie has supported NDNU with generous donations to the annual fund and by sponsoring the President’s Gala. She has been a major contributor to Ralston Hall and helped the University meet its Hispanic Serving Institution $1 million endowment challenge. In addition, in 2000, Marie established the W.F. and Marie Batton Endowed Scholarship. Marie received the Leadership Society Award and in 2013 she was honored as the first recipient of the President’s Legacy Award.

This Society honors donors who reached a cumulative of outright gifts of cash, securities, gifts-inkind or a pledge totaling $100,000 and above.

Recognition is also given to those donors who have formally notified the University that they have included a $500,000 bequest to NDNU in their will or to those who have established a planned gift to benefit the University, such as a non-term life insurance policy or a charitable remainder trust with a value of $500,000.

Donors in the Marie Batton Society will receive naming opportunities as appropriate, be recognized at the Donor Recognition event, in the University’s Honor Roll of Donors and will receive a commemorative gift.
