NDNU President’s Gala Receives Highest Support

Belmont, CA, May 20, 2010 — Notre Dame De Namur University today announced that its annual President’s Gala, the University’s annual fundraising event, is sold out. This year the event has attracted close to 500 guests which includes some of the Bay Area’s most prominent leaders while bringing in the university’s largest number of guests in the gala’s seven-year history. This year, NDNU honors lawyer Joseph W. Cotchett with the Community Spirit Award on May 22 in the Gleason Center.

As expressed by The National Law Journal, Mr. Cotchett “…is considered by plaintiffs and defense attorneys alike to be one of the foremost trial lawyers in the country.” He has been named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in the nation for the past 10 years. His career has involved representing the disadvantaged, extensive pro bono work, most recently representing Valerie Plame, the CIA Agent and victims of the Madoff fraud.

The honorary committee for the President’s Gala honoring Mr. Cotchett includes Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and actor/director Clint Eastwood.
