Carlmont Gardens Seniors Stay “Forever Young” with NDNU Filipino Students

Belmont, CA, March 23, 2010 — Residents of the Carlmont Gardens Nursing Center will get to roll back the clock to the days to the days when they were 18 years old, the summer nights were long and warm and their senior prom beckoned thanks to a group of students from Notre Dame de Namur University. The theme of this year’s “senior prom,” sponsored by NDNU’s Isang Lahi is “Forever Young.” It will be held at the Carlmont Nursing Center, 2140 Carlmont Drive, Belmont, CA on Saturday, March 27 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The Isang Lahi club, made up of some of NDNU’s Filipino students, along with other volunteers, will decorate, help the residents primp by doing hair, makeup, and nail polish, and will spend the evening dancing the night away! Prom attendees will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken under a balloon arch. This is the second year the Isang Lahi club has hosted a senior prom at Carlmont Gardens; last year’s theme was “Timeless.”

“This event provides a volunteer opportunity for our students and benefits the Carlmont residents, who don’t often get to enjoy the presence of the younger generation,” says Arlene Magbual, vice-president of the Isang Lahi club. “It is also a night of fun for their families, friends, and workers at the center. It was an absolute blast last year!”
