Students from Notre Dame de Namur University Send Christmas Cheer to Seabees

Belmont, CA, December 3, 2012 — As stores pipe out Christmas music and lights pop up on houses, students at Notre Dame de Namur University are making sure a group of Seabees are getting their share of the Christmas spirit. On December 6 from 7–9 p.m., the university’s Associated Students will present a Christmas for the Troops concert in the Taube Center to raise money to send care packages to members of U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 who are currently deployed to Afghanistan.

The concert will feature performances from the university’s music and dance students as well as the multicultural club and other students. “We want to make sure people know the importance of giving thanks for the sacrifice that soldiers make to ensure the rest of the country can be with family at this time of year,” said NDNU student Joshua Aguirre, who is a veteran of NMCB-1.

General admission is $10.00 or $7.00 with a donation. Admission for students with ID is $5.00 or $3.00 with a donation. Acceptable donations include candy, instant soup/oatmeal, power bars, beef jerky, DVDs, playing cards, board games, toiletries, underwear, t-shirts, books and word searches. The Taube Center is located on NDNU’s campus at 1500 Ralston Avenue in Belmont.
