NDNU’s Ralston Performers Series Begins Sept. 11 with a “Musicians Gala”
Belmont, CA, August 30, 2007 — The Ralston Performers Series will kick off its fall season September 11 with a “Musicians Gala” featuring NDNU’s professional Music and Musical Theatre faculty as they perform arias, instrumental solos, and music from Henry Mollicone’s opera “Emperor Norton.”
Other repertoire will include songs from Stephen Schwartz’s “Wicked,” Bernstein’s “Candide,” and selections by Prokofiev, Meyerbeer, and Ravel, among others. The concert will be held September 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ralston Hall Mansion Ballroom located on the NDNU campus.
“The Musicians Gala is always one of the highlights of the year,” said Debra Lambert, NDNU’s Chair of the Department of Music and Vocal Arts. “It is a treat to have all of these professionals making music together in one place, at one time, on the same program!”
The cast includes singers and NDNU faculty members Marcelle Dronkers, Debra Lambert, Eric Morris, Michael Najar, Elizabeth O’Neill, Lee Strawn, and Patrica Urbano. Instrumental soloists include Daniel Glover, Thomas Hansen, and Michael Schmitz (pianists), Lubo Velocovic (violin), and Marie-Louise Catsalis. Songs and arias sung by resident composers Henry Mollicone, and Joel Friedman.
