NDNU Appoints Arnell Etherington as Interim Dean of School of Arts and Humanities and School of Science
Belmont, CA, September 8, 2008 — Notre Dame de Namur University has appointed Professor Arnell Etherington, Ph.D. as Interim Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Science. She replaces Dr. Gregory White who resumes his duties as Associate Provost.
Dr. Etherington, Professor of Art Therapy Psychology, has been a member of the NDNU community since 1990. She has served as the Director of the Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy program and was recently appointed Chair of the Department of Art Therapy Psychology.
Dr. Etherington has served NDNU for several years as the Chair of the Graduate Curriculum and Academic Standards Committee. She also previously served as the Executive Director of Sonoma County’s Adolescent Day Treatment Program. Thus she brings a wealth of experience and energy to the deanship.
“We are very pleased that Dr. Etherington was willing to take on responsibility for these two schools while we search for a permanent replacement,” said Interim Provost Richard Giardina. “She loves art therapy and enjoys introducing students and the wider community to its benefits and we know she will bring the same passion and creativity to her new position. Her appointment also frees Dr. White to resume his duties which include strategic planning for the university.”
