Dr. Gregory B. White Named Interim Provost at Notre Dame de Namur University
Belmont, CA, January 19, 2010 — Notre Dame de Namur University today announced the appointment of Dr. Gregory B. White as Interim Provost. He replaces Richard Giardina, who served as Interim Provost from April 2008 to December 2009. As provost, Dr. White is NDNU’s senior academic officer with responsibility for all University academic affairs.
Dr. White has served NDNU for more than 16 years as a mathematics professor and administrator, most recently as Associate Provost. He served as Interim Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Sciences from 2006 to 2008 and led the University’s strategic planning efforts in 2006-07. In his various administrative roles at NDNU, his responsibilities have included oversight of the registrar, planning, assessment, institutional research, information technology, admissions, and coordination of student services, and he had a key role in supporting accreditation processes.
Additionally, Dr. White serves as Chair of the California Mathematics Project Advisory Board. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Rochester and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. White is also an accomplished musician who regularly plays French horn with the Redwood City Symphony Orchestra.
