Michael Romo New Vice President For University Advancement At NDNU 

Belmont, CA, August 9, 2010 — Notre Dame De Namur University today announced the appointment of Michael Romo as vice president for advancement.

Romo has over 30 years experience in fundraising and development. He most recently directed the Cathedral Fund for Christ the Light Cathedral Corporation in Oakland, where he led a capital campaign that raised $116 million. Other accomplishments include raising a $1 million gift from Phillips Petroleum for the Nature Conservancy of Alaska, the largest corporate gift for conservation in Alaska’s history, and directing a $20 million capital campaign for the Diocese of Santa Rosa.

He has served many other Catholic institutions including Marin Catholic High School, Santa Clara University, and University of San Francisco. Romo is also active in the community; he is a member of the Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos Board of Advisors and a former board member of the National Kidney Foundation of Northern California, and the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Father’s Club.

“Michael Romo is an outstanding development professional with an extraordinary track record,” said NDNU President Judith Maxwell Greig. “I know he will prove to be a strong and resourceful leader for the NDNU’s advancement division and will make a significant contribution to the growth of this university.”

Romo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University of San Francisco and a Master of Arts degree in English from University of Oregon. He is a recipient of a USF University Service Award, a CASE Exceptional Achievement Award, a Clio Award, and The One Show Award. Romo was also a finalist for the CASE – U.S. Steel Award.
