Grapes of WrathNDNU's Department of Theatre and Dance presents Frank Galati's adaptation of "The Grapes of Wrath," by John Steinbeck. Set in 1938 during the Great Depression, "The Grapes of Wrath" is the compelling saga of three generations of the Joad family who find themselves unwilling migrants to California when the bank forecloses on the family farm and bulldozes their house. It is an inspiring story of courage and conviction to survive and to care for others. Photos |

Fall Sports 2008It was a wildly successful year for NDNU's men's soccer team. In its first year of eligibility, the team won the Pacific West Conference title and made it into postseason play. The women closed out the season in fourth place in the Pac West with a 7-5 record. It was a tough season for women's volleyball but they finished strong with victories in two of their last three matches. The men's cross country team took fourth in the Pac West championships while the women finished fifth. Photos |

Suor AngelicaPresented by the Pocket Opera at Notre Dame "Suor Angelica," Giacomo Puccini's brilliant one-act opera, highlights the 2008 "Christmas in the Chapel" production. Sung in the original Italian by a talented cast of NDNU Music and Vocal Arts students, the opera centers around the trials of a young nun sent off to the convent by her family after having an illegitimate child. Thanksgiving in the Park 2008The NDNU community led once again by Dr. Cheryl Joseph, shared a Thanksgiving feast with the homeless in Golden Gate Park. Nearly 50 faculty, staff, board members, and students, including most of the NDNU women's basketball team, turned out to share their blessings with those less fortunate. This was the 16th year for the event and the eight in which we were joined by Vet SOS, which provided care for the pets of many of the homeless. Photos |

Dorothy Stang Center Luncheon with guest Martin SheenRenowned actor and activist Martin Sheen joined us for a fundraiser luncheon to celebrate the life of Sr. Dorothy Stang and the work of the newly-created Dorothy Stang Center. Sr. Dorothy Stang was murdered in Brazil in 2005 while working for social justice, and the Center honors her legacy through it's social justice work. Photos |

Halloween In The Tenderloin 2008Every year, students from Dr. Don's Streetwise Sociology Class organize a safe Halloween event that includes games, food, and trick-or-treating for the children of the Tenderloin Neighborhood in San Francisco. Soledad First Year ExperienceNearly half of this year's NDNU freshman class journeyed down to Soledad on October 12 to put on a carnival for the children of migrant workers. Students connected with the children through many fun activities, including a bounce house, face painting, chalk art, cake walk, temporary tattoos, basketball and soccer clinics, and mini pumpkin designing. Career Services helps by devoting a whole week to presentations, workshops, and a job fair to help NDNU seniors take that big step. Spring Sports 2008Spring is really sports season at NDNU. We move back outdoors to enjoy lacrosse, softball, golf, and tennis. The NDNU lacrosse team posted an impressive 11-2 record, including victories over most of the eastern powerhouse teams. Both golf teams were impressive with the women posting a victory and four top five finishes while the men placed fourth in the PacWest conference. It was an up and down season for the softball team and the women's tennis team continued to make progress. Photos |

Winter Sports 2007-2008At NDNU winter sports means basketball. The women's team enjoyed a great season, placing second in the PacWest conference and placing three players on All Pac West teams. Tanaia Keyes became the first NDNU player to earn First Team All-PacWest honors while Corazon Riley and Jennifer Dreessen received Second Team recognition. Chris Clock and Ryan Cooper took All PacWest honors for a men's team that provided plenty of thrills throughout the year. Photos |

Fall Sports 2007The NDNU Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross Country teams provided plenty of thrills and excitement for loyal Agronaut fans this year. The Men's Cross Country team came within a hairsbreadth of winning the Pacific West Conference Championship. The other NDNU teams made their presence felt with a two second place finish, a third, and two fourths. Seventeen Argo athletes from the five teams won All Pac West honors. Photos |

Children Of EdenFreely based on the Book of Genesis, “Children of Eden” enthralled NDNU audiences with a melodic, energetic score consisting of pop, folk, rock, reggae, gospel, Broadway, and powerful choral styles. Act I begins with the Creation story of Adam and Eve, begging the question of how it all began and where do we go from here. Act II follows with the story of Noah and the Flood. My Ticket to HellNDNU senior Kirk Pierron was invited to perform “My Ticket to Hell,” a modern version of “Faust” which Pierron wrote in 2003 at the 40th Annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), February 11-16 in Los Angeles. "My Ticket to Hell" performed to an overflow audience of conference participants that included students, faculty, staff along with representatives from the KCACTF regional and national festivals who responded with a standing ovation. Pierron wrote and produced the original version of the play two years ago. It was produced as a part of the Theatre Departments’ fall Theatre Festival and was performed in the NDNU Theatre in August.
