Position: Assistant or Associate Professor of Kinesiology, Tenure Track

Reports to: Chair, Department of Natural Sciences

Status: Full-Time (9 Month, Start Date - August 2013), Tenure Track

General Description :

The Kinesiology Program at Notre Dame de Namur University is seeking a full-time,Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director. We would like to find a leader that will further strengthen our growing program, enhance student success, and continue growing enrollment.  We are especially interested in individuals who have a broad knowledge and understanding of the diverse disciplines within the field and experience teaching a range of courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and staffing major courses
  • Strategic planning and general program administration:  including curriculum mapping, assessment, course redevelopment, and aligning for Kinesiology Program.  Participating in grant development and writing, fulfillment and assessment
  • Student development: including retention, quality and rigor of coursework, preparedness for workforce and/or graduate school, and creation of internships; developing and leading research projects in the field
  • Creating cooperative partnerships that lead to collaborative projects and student internships and jobs:  contributing visionary leadership in developing new alliances; serving as an advocate for the program and students in relations with the University, external stakeholders, professions, and alumni;
  • Promoting and modeling a climate that respects and values diversity in faculty/staff/student composition
  • Advising and Mentoring students and alumni
  • University/Departmental service (committees, meetings, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctorate in Kinesiology or related field
  • Experience teaching and advising undergraduate students
  • It is preferred that the candidate has either experience or the ability to teach one or several of the following courses:  Exercise Physiology, Structural Kinesiology, Mechanical Kinesiology, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injury, Wellness, Fundamentals of Strength and Conditioning.

Position: Adjunct Assistant Professor, History and Political Science

Reports to: Chair, Department of History and Political Science

Status: Full-time, 9-month (Position to start August 15, 2013)

General Description:

Responsible for teaching 24 units of courses each academic year in the Department of History and Political Science.  The courses may include both undergraduate and graduate classes.  Serves on selected committees and advises History and Political Science students.  The Department of History and Political Science includes programs for undergraduates in the fields of History, Political Science, as well as a Pre-Law minor.  Faculty in the department work collaboratively to plan and implement curricula that combine a solid liberal arts foundation with professional planning.  Familiarity with recent theoretical developments in interdisciplinary curricular development and pedagogy is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in History, Political Science, or related fields from an accredited university

Position: Assistant Librarian, Reference

Status: Full Time Adjunct (10 Month)

General Description:

Position: Assistant Librarian (50% STEM & 50% Generalist)

General Description:

The Assistant Librarian position combines two part-time positions, a Reference Librarian position (50%) and a grant funded STEM Librarian position (50%).

The person in this position is responsible for a broad range of activities related to the planning and implementation of library services, including reference, instruction, and collection development.  The STEM portion of this position involves activities related to the Library’s instructional program supporting the University’s Science & Technology departments.  These activities focus on enhancing library services for Hispanic and low income students majoring in STEM fields.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Serves as the library’s subject specialist for selecting, organizing, and annotating print and electronic resources to support STEM programs.

3. Administration and Supervision

  • Develops and manages the library’s STEM student assistant program including peer-to-peer library outreach efforts.  Manages the Library’s STEM budget and collects data to evaluate program outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in librarianship [MLS or MLIS] from an ALA accredited library school

Position: Associate Professor, Tenure Track, Art Therapy Psychology Program

General Description:
Notre Dame de Namur University is seeking a full-time tenure-track Associate Professor.  The successful candidate will have a Doctorate in Art Therapy or a related field from an accredited university and with significant experience in research, clinical work, and administrative or program leadership responsibilities.  Candidates must be actively involved in scholarly activity commensurate with a faculty assignment to a  master’s and doctoral program, committed to teaching a diverse student population, and dedicated to the University’s mission of diversity, community engagement, and social justice.

Established 32 years ago, the NDNU’s Master of Arts in Art Therapy is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in the field of art therapy. It is one of very few programs in the country with full-time faculty dedicated exclusively to the Art Therapy Program who are licensed clinicians as well as board certified, registered Art Therapists.  For more than a decade, the program has successfully trained post-master’s students.  Building on this distinction, NDNU is in the final stages for the approval of a doctoral program in Art Therapy, tentatively planned for initiation in fall 2013, pending Board and WASC approval.

General Description:

Assistant to the Director of the Academic Success Center and Administrative Coordinator of a project grant, primary responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Creation and maintenance of databases for tracking students, particularly project grant students

Position: Administrative Coordinator - Professional Studies

General Description:

As this is a half time position, duties may include from among the following. Providing administrative support to the Chairs, Intensive Business and Human Services.  Carry out office management, record management and general office duties.  Responsible for administrative support for smooth functionality and coordination of satellite school / consortium programs, including but not limited to contact and follow up with current and prospective students to set up appointments and to ensure increases in enrollment and in retention. Position: Admissions Counselor (Graduate and Bachelor's Completion Programs)

Reports to: Associate Director of Admissions

Status: Full-time, Exempt

General Description:

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for supporting all areas of customer service, and guiding prospective adult and graduate students through the inquiry, application, and enrollment processes.  The incumbent coordinates strategy with other Admissions Counselors and Program Directors/Deans, under the direction of the Associate Director of Admissions and the Dean of Enrollment.  S/he works with the team to develop a comprehensive recruitment and outreach plan for graduate and adult programs.  S/he recruits, admits, and enrolls students primarily from accredited four-year institutions and from companies, non-profits, and organizations in the local region.  S/he is assigned a specific set of programs to represent, though is cross-trained with other Admissions Counselors to represent all programs. S/he visits partner organizations, develops strong relationships within the community, forges and maintains formal agreements, and most important, communicates effectively with prospective students.  S/he meets with prospective students, counsels them about their potential opportunities at NDNU, and evaluates their transcripts and admissions application.  S/he organizes events to draw students to NDNU and improve institutional visibility.  S/he supports the compilation and input of all required admissions documents.  S/he reduces barriers to enrollment by facilitating the connection of students to Program faculty and staff for registration.  S/he supports compliance with all University policies and procedures.  S/he is a member of the Admissions and Enrollment teams and assists the Associate Director and Dean of Enrollment as requested.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Responsible for recruiting graduate and adult students and converting inquiries to applicants to enrolled students across a range of programs; aggressively reaches out via phone calls to guide students through the admissions process;
  • Informs prospective students of NDNU’s program offerings and admissions process; meets individually with prospective students to provide high levels of customer service;
  • Represents the University at graduate school fairs, corporate education fairs, and professional organization meetings; organizes on- and off-campus information sessions, coordinates campus visits, and handles follow up;
  • Responsible for accurate input of inquiry contact information and data entry of graduate application and supporting documentation;
  • Reviews applicant transcripts, calculating cumulative GPA, counsels prospective students and completes admissions applications;
  • Manages the admissions file review process among academic departments with the goal of minimizing file review time and maximizing communication with both program directors and applicants;
  • Executes admissions communication via phone, email, and USPS (missing document, acceptance, decline, deferral) by means of database reporting and merging files;
  • Processes application fees and deposits;
  • Oversees yield communication strategies among applied and admitted students;
  • Produces reports to enhance strategies for conversion and yield;
  • Other duties as assigned by Associate Director of Admissions and/or Dean of Enrollment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong skill set utilizing databases and running reports from databases;
  • Three years progressive experience in an office environment, Admissions experience preferred, but not required; familiarity with prospective corporate and community organizations preferred;
  • Proven attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from recruiting visits; some local and overnight travel will be required.

Position: Custodian

Reports to: Custodial and Setup Operations Manager and/or Lead Custodian

Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday through Friday, 12:30pm to 9pm

General Description:
Cleaning and maintaining all campus buildings.  Set up for special events or functions, move campus furniture, and assist in deliveries.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

CLEANING - daily

1. Restrooms

  • Dump trash and replace trash liners, clean the inside of trash cans and sanitary napkin containers as needed
  • Wash and disinfect all sinks, toilet bowls.  Clean underneath and outer side of toilets.
  • Clean counter tops with disinfectant cleaner.
  • Wipe clean all dispensers with disinfectant cleaner
  • Clean and polish mirrors.
  • Clean and polish all metal fixtures
  • Sweep, dust mop and wet mop entire floor surface in bathroom using disinfectant cleaner
  • Refill all paper and soap dispensers
  • Spot clean walls, doors and partitions
  • Clean all ventilation covers
  • Wash all partitions
  • Pour enzyme deodorant in all floor drains to control odors.
  • Machine scrub all tile floors
  • Machine scrub and wax all vinyl floors
  • Wash ceramic tiles on walls
  • Wipe clean painted walls

2. Offices, classrooms, residence halls and common areas

  • Collect and dump all trash from waste receptacles and place in designated area.  Wipe cans clean as needed, replace plastic liners
  • Dust clean all flat surfaces, such as desks, credenzas, file cabinets, etc.  Do not move any personal belongings
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Dust mop all tile floors and wet mop with neutral cleaner
  • Clean and sanitize all water fountains
  • Straighten furniture
  • Remove spots on carpets on a weekly basis
  • Erase and clean all white boards
  • Dust clean all window ledges, do not move any personal belongings
  • Clean all stairwells, dust handrails, sweep and mop steps
  • Keep janitorial storage rooms clean and organized
  • Report to Supervisor any maintenance problems observed while working (clogged toilets, burnt out lights, holes in walls, etc)
  • Wash lobby glass doors inside and out
  • Perform high dusting, remove cobwebs
  • Clean off chair mats under desks
  • Spot clean walls as needed

SET UPS

  • Transport and set up furniture and equipment for special events per provided floor plan as required
  • Transporting, replacing, and reconfiguring furniture in all offices, classrooms, public areas, residence halls, and restrooms as necessary

TRASH - daily

  • Collect  and remove trash from all offices, classrooms, public areas, residence halls, restrooms and grounds trash bins
  • Separate recyclables and put in appropriate bins
  • Transport trash to containers and assist Custodial and Setup Operations Manager in transporting trash off-site as required.
  • Pick up and transport all bagged large trash left at each building to nearest trash container
  • Pick up and flatten all cardboard and transport to nearest recycling container
  • Empty all trash from trash containers on sidewalks; replace liners and clean lids
  • Pick up litter on all walkways while making daily rounds
  • Wipe off any large spills near building entrances
  • Sweep clean all building entrances including steps and immediate areas of sidewalks and around trash areas

INVENTORY

  • Stock and verify inventory in custodial closets

OTHER

  • Any other duties as required or called in by Facilities and/or Custodial and Setup Operations Manager or Lead Custodian

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Drivers License
  • Knowledge of blood borne pathogen safety

Position: Database Administrator – ERP Support

Reports to: Administrative Systems Director and IT Director

Status: Full-Time – Exempt

General Description: Administer and support enterprise database Jenzabar EX ERP with integrated third party applications, and JICS web portal. Create complex SQL scripts and Infomaker reports. Collaborate on and coordinate administrative technology projects including system upgrades. Provide support for end users, including accounts, groups and permissions. Develop and deliver end-user training.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. Provide Database Administrator (DBA) Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) support for administration of Jenzabar EX ERP and JICS web portal.
  2. Set up processes and routines to automate EX tasks for administrative and academic departments, utilizing EX functions, and MS SQL Server Transact-SQL.
  3. Create SQL scripts, jobs, processes, tiggers  and stored procedures.
  4. Create complex ad hoc Infomaker reports and provide support to offices in creating reports.
  5. Collaborate on installation of new releases, upgrades, and patches.
  6. Provide end-user support and training for EX and JICS, including testing and validation of new releases in lab environment prior to deployment in production environment.
  7. Document procedures and processes for knowledge base.

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server scripting, database  administration, and  ERP administration.
  • Competency in MS SQL server and Transact-SQL query language.
  • Demonstrated experience with Sybase Infomaker report writing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to general audiences both verbally and in writing.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Jenzabar EX ERP administration experience.
  • C# programming experience.

Position: Director of Counseling and Health Services

General Description:

The Director of Counseling and Health Services is responsible for the administration, coordination and operation of both counseling and health services program on campus.  The Director trains, supervises, develops, and evaluates the programs and services of these units to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and use of best practices within the resources available at NDNU.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Provide psychotherapy to diverse undergraduate and graduate student populations with various cultural backgrounds, to enhance the emotional well-being and personal growth of the students.  The format for therapy can be individual, group or couples counseling.

2. Provide consultation to faculty and staff to address job related concerns or concerns regarding students.

3. Maintain daily operation of Counseling and Health Services

Qualifications:

NDNU’s Office of Financial Aid is looking for an energetic and motivated individual who is committed to providing excellent financial aid services to NDNU students, prospective students, and their families. NDNU’s Office of Financial Aid processes over $33 million in funds annually from a variety of sources. The Office plays an integral role in the enrollment and retention efforts of the Institution and as such the Financial Aid Counselor must have a passion for education and customer service. Under the supervision of the Director, this position performs a variety of activities to administer federal, state and institutional aid funds. The Financial Aid Counselor guides students to complete their financial aid applications, counsels families on the details of their financial aid awards, and helps students find ways to finance their education. Applicants must be results-oriented and possess exceptional customer service, presentation, and public speaking skills. Position: Groundskeeper

Reports to: Lead Groundskeeper

Status: Full-time, non-exempt, Union Local 3

General Description:

The Groundskeeper will take direction from the Lead Groundskeeper.  The Groundskeeper has a primary responsibility to maintain a specific section of the campus. Groundskeepers are expected to have extensive horticulture knowledge; maintain healthy and attractive plants; install and repair irrigation systems; use pest management; operate and repair machinery; and pick up litter and debris. The Groundskeepers are expected to work together as a team on major construction and renovation projects.

Groundskeepers work traditional "green industry".  Notre Dame de Namur Grounds Department duty hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with two fifteen minute coffee breaks plus a half hour for lunch each day. 

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Horticulture:  Maintain healthy and attractive plants in specific geographic areas.

  • Patrol assigned area of campus daily to review horticultural needs.
  • Water plant material appropriately to ensure healthy vegetation and to conserve water.
  • Prune plants to fulfill agreed upon objectives.
  • Control weeds.
  • Cut and spray weeds on hillsides, as a team, to maintain firebreaks.
  • Maintain lawns - mow, water, aerate, fertilize.
  • Cut and remove dead or fallen trees.
  • Chip woody plant material into usable mulch.

2. Irrigation:  Repair, maintain and upgrade irrigation systems to ensure effectiveness.

3. Machinery: Operate and maintain horticultural tools and machinery.

  • Operate tractors, hedgers, mowers, string trimmers, etc. in compliance with manufacturer’s and NDNU safety standards.
  • Perform documented preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Make minor repairs on equipment.

4. Other:

  • Patrol assigned area of campus daily picking up litter and debris.
  • Report damage or problems.
  • Clean fountains, fill, and maintain required level of chlorination.

  • Maintain Grounds golf carts and observe safe practices

Position: Head Women’s Basketball Coach

General Description:

Responsible for fielding and administering an intercollegiate women’s basketball team in compliance with NCAA, Conference, University and Athletic Department regulations.  Additional responsibilities in all aspects of managing the sports information office

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Practice / Competition – Organize and administer appropriate pre-season, in season and post season instructional activities necessary to develop and maintain a quality team.

  • Recommend and develop a competitive contest schedule.   Submit written request for facilities needed for practice and competition.

General Description:

The Interim Dean of the School of Business and Management at NDNU serves as the academic and administrative leader of the School of Business and Management who works in collaboration with the Provost and in accordance with university policy and procedures and in support of NDNU’s mission and core values.  The Dean is a visionary leader who takes a primary role in promoting excellence in the implementation of the University’s and School’s educational mission  including collaborations and partnerships, creation of new programs, fundraising, and external positioning. The Dean is also responsible for faculty and staff hiring and supervision, faculty and staff development, curriculum development, program evaluation, budget management, and enrollment efforts.

The Dean is expected to provide strong leadership in building relationships with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and governmental organizations. In addition, the Dean should have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students. The Dean will have an earned doctorate in business or a related field, a successful record of teaching and research, and significant practical business or management experience.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Leadership:

  • In cooperation with stakeholders, develop strategic objectives for the School and develop tactics to achieve these objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong collegial relationships within the School, with the wider University community, and with external organizations.

General Description:

The Library Assistant is responsible for providing library circulation services to the students, faculty, and staff of Notre Dame de Namur University.  The Library Assistant opens new patron accounts, handles circulation transactions and provides assistance to patrons on how to use the online catalog and locate library materials.  The Library Assistant provides front-ling customer service, including but not limited to, answering telephone inquiries and assisting patrons with general informational questions about the library and the campus.  The Library Assistant also helps to promote a welcoming atmosphere conducive to study and research.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Uses the integrated library system to open new patron accounts, handle circulation transactions and collect overdue fines.
  • Assists patrons with searches using the library’s online catalog to locate resources, referring reference questions to the librarians.

Position: Residence Life Coordinator

General Description:

Assist in the day-to-day operation of Student Life & Leadership including, but not limited to: providing co-curricular programs for resident students that include general student activities; educational and cultural programs; supervision and training of the Resident Advisors; building community amongst resident students; and leadership development for resident students. This position is a live-on position, and will serve as a professional staff member of duty.

1. General

  • Provides professional development and supervision of the student Resident Advisors.

Position: Sacristan for Cunningham Chapel

Reports to: Amy Jobin, Director of the Center for Spirituality

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Maintains and cleans all materials used in the liturgy. This includes vestments, altar and table coverings, corporals, purificators, towels, vessels, and candle holders. Dry cleaning items should be taken to the local cleaners; sewing jobs should be referred to the Director of the Center for Spirituality.

2. Keeps an inventory of all supplies including but not limited to hosts, wine, candles, tapers, matches, incense, charcoal, ashes and palms, batteries, missal/hymnal (annual), the ordo (annual). He or she will inform the Director of Spirituality of needs each month and assist with placing orders with the appropriate business and vendors.

3. Provides training of all sacristans for the 4pm Saturday Mass and will substitute on the weekends when another sacristan is not available.

4. Takes all donations collected at collected at Masses and secures them in a bank bag and drops it in the safe.

5. Assists with set up for special Masses and liturgies as requested by the Director of the Center for Spirituality.

Stipend Info: $100.00 a month

Includes: providing seminars / didactic trainings, scheduling guest speakers for trainings, scheduling participation in relevant conferences, participating in the Northern California Training Directors group, acting as chair of the search committee and arranging intern interviews, supervising the clinical experience of the two practicum interns, writing evaluations and liaison with Doctoral Programs
  • Remain “on-call” for crisis intervention
  • Coordinate and provide training for Student Leaders. Includes: Teaching counseling and communication skills, providing follow-up consultation as necessary
  • Coordinate outreach programs and services. Includes: providing consultation services for faculty and staff; helping to develop and promote psycho-educational workshops for students on topics such as stress management, healthy relationships, alcohol use and abuse, and depression
  • Participate as a team member in the Division of Student Affairs 
  • Works collaboratively with the Case Manager/Social Worker  

Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology, preferably from an APA accredited program
  • Three years of postdoctoral experience that includes clinical training duties, counseling-related responsibilities, clinical supervision, administrative or teaching responsibilities
  • Clinical skill in providing short term, long term, crisis counseling; triage and case management; group psychotherapy; individual and couples therapy.
  • Minimum of 3 full-time equivalent years experience providing clinical supervision to graduate student trainees as a licensed psychologist
  • College Counseling experience preferred
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical training program management and regulations

Position: Transfer Admissions Counselor

Reports to: Assistant Director of Admissions

General Description:

The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for supporting all areas of customer service, and guiding transfer students through the inquiry, application, and enrollment processes.  S/he is cross-trained to support the accelerated/evening and freshman populations as well.  S/he primarily recruits, admits and enrolls transfer students from accredited two- and four-year institutions, especially Bay Area community colleges.  S/he visits partner institutions, develops strong relationships with transfer centers, forges and maintains formal agreements, and foremost, communicates with students.  The Transfer Admissions Counselor coordinates strategy with the Assistant Director of Admissions for Articulation on meeting enrollment goals for transfer students representing diverse backgrounds. S/he meets with prospective students, counsels them about their potential opportunities at NDNU, and evaluates their transcripts.  S/he organizes events to draw students to NDNU and improve institutional visibility.  S/he supports the compilation and input of all required admissions documents.  S/he supports compliance with all University policies and procedures.  S/he is a member of the undergraduate admissions team and assists the Assistant Director of Admissions as requested.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Outreach / Recruiting

  • Informs prospective applicants of NDNU’s program offerings and undergraduate admissions process
  • Selects and visits community and transfer colleges to meet with prospective students and college counselors and transfer centers
  • Schedules and communicates upcoming visits and recruitment fairs
  • Helps arrange campus visits for prospective students and student-groups
  • Communicates with prospective students via e-mail and/or telephone regarding admissions status, campus visits, scheduled events, etc. and documents notes of these communications

2. Administrative / Internal

  • Maintains a calendar of all visits; coordinates with the community colleges and notifies potential students of visits through NDNU communications (mailers, website, visit calendar) and works with other colleges to make sure we are publicized. Checks CC websites that we have agreements with regularly and works with them to ensure links and information directing them to NDNU is optimized
  • Acts as liaison between admitted/newly-enrolled transfer students and the academic advising community
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Admissions or Dean of Enrollment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written; able to work effectively with traditional-aged college students, high school students, working adult students and families
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people
  • Comfortable utilizing databases and running reports from databases
  • Two years professional work experience required; sales and/or higher education recruiting experience preferred, but not required
