Position: Assistant Professor of Education

General Description:
Notre Dame de Namur University seeks a multifaceted instructor for its Multiple Subject credential program. The candidate should have a broad knowledge and wide variety of skills in education with the ability to teach Foundation classes and some Pedagogy classes(e.g. Science and/or Math) for elementary grades. In addition, the candidate will be expected to support student teachers and other students through advising and supervising in K-8 classrooms.

Qualifications:

In addition, the candidate is expected to advise candidates in the single subject credential program during the summer. The candidate might also be expected to supervise student teachers.

Position: Assistant/Associate Professor, Natural Sciences

General Description:

Position: Professor of English (Asst, Assoc, or Full)

General Description:
This position consists of roughly 50% administrative work and 50% teaching with an emphasis on writing, both creative and expository.

Poistion: Assistant Director of Development for Annual Giving

Reports to: Director of Development

Status: Full-time Exempt

General Description:
The Assistant Director of Development for Annual Giving will be responsible for major activities related to the realization of unrestricted/undesignated gift support for the University.  Under direction of the Director of Development, and working closely with selected others, such as the Director of Alumni Relations and Vice President for Advancement, he/she will be responsible for solicitation of these gifts by telephone, traditional mail, e-mail, and face-to-face.

The Assistant Director of Development for Annual Giving will join a hard-working, creative, and committed team whose members, during Fiscal Year 2006-07, assisted with realization of a Grand Total of $1.6 million in private gift support towards our 157-year old institution.  Of that, slightly over $700,000 was raised on behalf of Current Operations, largely due to the NDNU Annual Fund.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Designs and manages two Phoneathons, one during the Fall and the other during Spring. These phoneathons, a central part of the office’s year-to-year fundraising, are conducted by student callers from the NDNU community who are recruited, trained, and managed by the Assistant Director.

2. Conducts the annual NDNU Graduating Class Gift program.  This program seeks outright and/or pledged gift amounts from those students who are graduating during a given year.  Traditionally, the Class Gift is presented during spring Commencement.

3. Conducts selected Reunion Giving programs.  These programs seek outright and/or pledged gift amounts from members of those classes celebrating landmark anniversaries of their graduation (customarily, these include reunions at the anniversary points of 10-years, 15-years, 25-years, and 30-years).

4. Assists the Director of Development, and occasionally the Director of Operations, with essential generation and response-tracking of pledge reminders; maintenance of accurate lists of donor data; and coordination of all solicitation mailings, which can include mail merge and preparation of mail pieces for delivery to mail room.

5. Establishes, cultivates, and maintains effective relationships with donors and prospects, University administrators, faculty, staff, and others as appropriate.

6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  •  Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, largely during the Fall and Spring phoneathons which traditionally run 4-5 weekdays.

Poistion: Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach

Reports to: Director of Athletics

Status: Part-time, Exempt, Average of 25 hours /week; 52 weeks/year

Supervises: Assistant Coach(es) in same sport

General Description:
Responsible for fielding and administering an intercollegiate men’s and women’s Cross Country team in compliance with NCAA, Pacific West Conference, University and Athletic Department regulations.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Practice / Competition – Organize and administer an appropriate pre-season, in season and post season instructional activities necessary to develop and maintain a quality team.

  • Recommend a competitive contest schedule.   Submit written request for facilities needed for practice and competition.
  • Organize and conduct team instructional activities to include practices, scheduled contests and effective year-round conditioning.
  • Transport team to away events and practices where necessary.  Follow department procedures for University use.
  • Set up home contests.  Meet with the Director of Athletics on a regular basis to coordinate this process.
  • File both in and out of season practice schedule with the Director of Athletics.
  • Staff and make arrangement for practice times for visiting teams when requested by opponents

2.  Recruitment – Recruit and assess the talent of prospective student-athletes.

  • Establish a full and competitive team.
  • Work closely with the Office of Admission in the recruitment of qualified student-athletes to field a competitive team.
  • Organize on campus visits and make arrangements for off campus recruitment activities to attract quality student-athletes.

3.  Compliance – Comply with all internal policy and external regulations.

  • Adhere to department, College, conference and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Be familiar with and adhere to procedures set forth in the NDNU Staff Manual.
  • Initiate and maintain communications with prospective student-athletes according to NAIA recruiting/eligibility regulations.
  • Monitor academic progress of team members.

4.  Budget Development – Participate in the development and implementation of the Cross Country budget

  • Make recommendations for team budget including uniforms, equipment and team travel.
  • Ensure requested expenditures adhere to approved team budget.

5.   Records Management – Responsible for keeping team records related to statistics, completion of required forms by student-athletes, maintaining participation and award records and other areas as necessary.

6.  Staffing – Arrange for the hiring of assistant coaching staff and home game staff, supervising their performance.

7.  Inventory/Facilities – Responsible for proper use and care of inventory and facilities.

  • Arrange for retrieval of laundered team uniforms.
  • Maintain control of equipment and uniform inventory
  • Bring to the attention of the Director of Athletics inadequate or unsafe conditions.

8.  Public Relations/Communication – Represent team to the public.

  • Attend ALL NDNU Athletics Department meetings and conference coach’s meetings.
  • Coordinate the reporting of scores to the Sports Information Director.

9.   Other Duties – Perform other duties related to the Athletics program as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required/Master’s preferred
  • Physical Education degree preferred
  • College coaching experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
  • Class B drivers license preferred

Position: Graduate Assistant, Center for Spirituality & Social Change

Reports to: Director of the Center for Spirituality & Social Change

Status: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)

Compensation:  Tuition, Monthly Stipend, Room and Board

General Description:
The Graduate Assistant will assist the director of The Center for Spirituality and Social Change with administrative tasks such as managing the budget and correspondence.  The candidate is knowledgeable about marketing and public relations including appropriate use of technology for web and digital-based public relations.  The candidate will coordinate logistics for events such as retreats and luncheons.  The candidate will have knowledge about spirituality and/or community based learning and will oversee the Student Community Service Coordinator.  The candidate will also assist the Campus Chaplain on Sunday evenings in the set-up and break-down for the student liturgy, though attendance at the actual Mass is not required.  Campus Life graduate assistants are required to live on campus and be scheduled as an on-call weekend emergency/crisis response duty staff person.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Promote and market through brochures, website development, and newsletters for the Center.
  • Create multimedia presentations such as Power Point and digital slideshows for major events.
  • Oversee and advise the undergraduate Community Service Coordinator.
  • Assist in responding to crises and tragedies that require rapid response.
  • Work with students to publicize special Masses and recruit student volunteers.
  • Assist in developing, planning and publicizing retreat and immersion experiences for the promotion of spiritual exploration and social justice.
  • Assist in the coordination of Community Collaborations Day.
  • Work with the Director to enhance and support extant and new Community Based Learning initiatives.
  • Oversee set-up and breakdown for the Sunday evening student liturgies and assist the campus chaplain as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position: Graduate Assistant for Housing & Residence Life

Reports to: Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life

Status: Part-time, 10-month position

Supervises: Front Desk Workers

General Description:
As a part-time, graduate level, live-in position, the Graduate Assistant (GA) for Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is responsible for aiding in the general administrative tasks of the Housing & Residence Life Office.  The GA HRL, along with the Residence Directors (RD) and the Director and Assistant Director of HRL create the Housing and Residence Life Senior Staff Team.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Housing Office

  • Serve as office manager for Housing office;
  • Orchestrate the communication of important dates and procedures to RAs and residents;
  • Responsible for maintaining and tracking keys, including card access system
  • Responsible for the upkeep of Argo TV information.

2. Administration

  • Know, convey, and support the philosophy and objectives of the University, Campus Life Division, and Housing & Residence Life Department;
  • Assist with the completion and quality of the day-to-day operations and seasonal tasks within H&RL by fulfilling 20 office hours per week during regular office hours (M-F, 9am-5pm);
  • Maintain on-going communication with the Residence Directors, and the Director and Assistant Director of HRL;
  • In conjunction with the RDs and Director and Asst. Director of HRL, assist in creating, editing, and revising of all Residential Life publications (RA Training Manual, Resident Section of Handbook, HRL web page, etc.);
  • Maintain a positive, effective, and mutually supportive working relationship with all University departments;
  • Live on-campus for the purpose of being available and visible in residence areas;
  • Participate in the On-Call schedule throughout the semester;
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned by the RDs or Director and Assistant Director of HRL.

3. Training and Advising

  • Co-facilitate training sessions for the intensive training (Fall and Spring) for the RA staff with the Residence Directors;
  • Train and advise the Front Desk student workers.

  • Previous live-in, RA, or residence life experiences preferred;

Position: Graduate Assistant for Student Development & Responsibility

Reports to: Director of Housing and Residence Life; Student Development & Responsibility

Status: Part-time

Supervises: Student Volunteers, Interns and CRC Coordinator

General Description:
A part-time position responsible for assisting the Director of HRL and SDR with the implementation of the student conduct system, conflict resolution center, and residence life program.  The GA will assist with programming, student conduct, student and community development for the campus community. The GA will work to establish an environment conducive to the personal, social, and academic development of students. 

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Conflict Resolution Center

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Conflict Resolution Center.
  • Implement the Center’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with community partners such as the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center and the local community colleges.
  • Coordinate student volunteers and student interns.
  • Coordinate ongoing training for student volunteers and student staff.

2. Student Development

  • Co-Advise RHA.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Campus Life departments to provide programming in areas which are identified needs for our students.

3. Counseling/Advising/Student Conduct:

  • Advise and assess students and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • Assist with the coordination and training of the Student Conduct Board.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Student Conduct system which include database and file maintenance, tracking and developing student sanctions, correspondence, and conducting hearings.

4. Administration:

  • Understand, convey, and support the mission, vision, and values of the University, and Campus Life Division.
  • Work to establish an environment conducive to the personal, social and academic development of students.
  • Assist in the creating, editing, and revising of the NDNU Student Handbook.
