Every school has a CETL Instructional Designer. Yours will email you within your first week — you do not have to find us.

Welcome to NDNU. This guide gets you up and running on the practical side — accounts, calendar, course shell, and who to call when something breaks.
Your Dean sent you this link. Work through it in order; it is arranged by urgency, not by topic. Most items take a few minutes. Nothing here requires you to already have an NDNU login.
You are not doing this alone, and you do not have to ask first.
Every school has a CETL Instructional Designer, and yours will email you within your first week to introduce themselves and offer help with your course. You are welcome to reach them sooner — their names and addresses are in the sidebar, and on After Hiring.
Something wrong right now? If you cannot get into Canvas or Zoom and you are about to teach, call the OIT Helpdesk at (650) 508-3555 — the phone line is staffed 24/7 for access problems. See What to do if… for the rest.
The guide, in order
Accept your offer, complete HR onboarding, and find the Employee Handbook. What happens between "yes" and your first login. 2. After Hiring
Campus Portal, email, Canvas, Zoom, the academic calendar, your syllabus template, and the Instructional Designer assigned to your school. This is the section you will use most. 3. What to Do If…
You cannot get into Canvas five minutes before class. You cannot make it to a session. Something urgent happens. Read this before you need it. 4. Ongoing Support
The offices you will rely on all term: ASC, CETL, DRC, HR, OIT, and the Registrar — and what each one actually does.
What is coming next
Teaching with Purpose at NDNU is CETL's onboarding course in Canvas. It goes deeper into NDNU's teaching culture, course design, and student support, and it ends with a syllabus and a course shell ready for your term. Plan on about a week, an hour or two a day. Your Dean or CETL will enroll you.
Going deeper
The pages below were drafted before this guide was scoped. They cover NDNU's teaching culture and course design in depth — substantially the same ground as Teaching with Purpose. They are here for review, not because they belong in a quick-start guide.
