After hiring

Once you've received your NDNU login credentials from HR and information from OIT, these are seven main access points to get you up and running at NDNU. The access points are presented below, roughly in the order you will need them.

1. Email and Microsoft 365

Once you are hired, OIT will create your NDNU email account (Microsoft Outlook), which also grants you access to Microsoft 365 productivity apps. OIT will provide all the information you need to login for the first time, including Multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup. Bookmark the email login page for easy access.

-->Sign in to your NDNU email in Outlook on the web

Please use your NDNU email and Microsoft 365 for all NDNU-related correspondences and shared work files, and encourage your students to do the same.

2. Campus Portal

Campus Portal is a good place to gain access to many of the important resources you will need to teach at NDNU. Bookmark Campus Portal in your browser for easy access to:

  • Quick Links to the NDNU website, your email, and Canvas.
  • Campus Resources and a number of important forms for use by students and faculty. See especially Course Withdrawal Form.
  • Course Schedules for each term with everything essential about the course you are teaching: modality, student enrollment, meeting times, and start/end dates.
  • Grades are also reported here at the end of term, not in Canvas.

-->Sign in to NDNU Campus Portal. Note: your username is your six-digit NDNU ID number. Contact HR at hr@ndnu.edu if you need help identifying your NDNU ID number.

3. Canvas

Canvas is where your online courses live. You can only access Canvas after you've logged into your NDNU email/Microsoft 365. If you log in and don't see your course yet, note it can take up to 24 hours after your name is assigned to the course for it to appear on your Canvas Dashboard. After signing in, bookmark the Canvas Dashboard (https://ndnu.instructure.com/) for easy access.

-->Sign in to NDNU Canvas and locate your course shell(s).

4. Zoom

Zoom is a video conferencing tool that allows faculty to host synchronous classes, office hours, and meetings using video, audio, screen sharing, and collaboration tools.

Zoom accounts are not created automatically— you will need to email OIT to ask for Zoom access if you are teaching an online synchronous course.

-->Request access to Zoom by sending an email to helpdesk2@ndnu.edu and CCing your Dean.

5. Academic Calendar

NDNU runs a mix of 8-week and 15-week terms depending on the program. Refer to the academic calendar for your term start and end dates, drop deadlines, Withdrawal (“W”) deadlines, and holidays to inform your course planning.

--> Access the 2026–2027 Academic Calendar (PDF)

6. Syllabus Template

Each school and program maintains a syllabus template with school branding, the institutional policy language, and applicable program learning outcomes.

-->Request the syllabus template you will need from your Program Director.

7. Your CETL Instructional Designer (ID)

CETL designates a lead Instructional Designer to work with every school. At any time you can email your ID directly to connect and request assistance.

As you are getting up and running your ID can help you:

  • Add a course template to your course shell.
  • Copy over past course content.
  • Learn to use Canvas and its tools.
  • Review your syllabus and Canvas course to confirm readiness in advance of the new term.

-->Connect with your CETL Instructional Designer (ID) by email: Cetl@ndnu.edu
