Students tell me they can't see my Canvas course

Be sure to publish your course, ideally two weeks before the term begins, with at least a home page, syllabus, and Getting Started module.

Another student or a parent is asking about a student's grades Defend student privacy by default. Refer to the university's FERPA and Student Privacy website for more guidance.
A student discloses a sexual misconduct incident

Encourage the student to report any sexual misconduct incident to the Conduct/Incident Report Form. Also let them know you will need to inform the Title IX Coordinator, Mary Haesloop. She may be able to assist the student with resources and she can be reached at mhaesloop@ndnu.edu.

I'm worried about a student's behavior or well-being, but it isn't an emergency

Report a non-emergency behavior issue to the Conduct / Incident Report Form. It routes to the Office of the Provost, which sends it to the right office.

Direct a student to the mental health support available at TimelyCare, where TalkNow connects an NDNU student to a licensed mental health professional in minutes, free, any hour.

Faculty situations

What to do if...? Answer
I can't teach today because I'm experiencing an emergency situation Notify your Program Director as soon as you're able, and message your students through Canvas. If you can't do either yourself, ask someone to do it for you.
I'll be out longer than a session or two due to special circumstances Contact your Program Director and HR (hr@ndnu.edu). Extended absence, leave, and coverage are handled between your school and HR.

Not sure who to ask? Start with your Instructional Designer. If you're not sure who that is, cetl@ndnu.edu reaches all of us.
